Positive thinking has big limitations and it is better is to view our life through an optimistic lens. Optimism is not necessarily positive and it does not deny the truth. It allows us to address the positive and negative in a healthy way looking for the best outcome, acknowledging the realties. Positive thinking puts an additional weight on us that we are responsible for or have some control over what happens in a random universe or over other people, or over God which is not possible. We only have power over ourselves…and half the time, good luck with that when we remember all the failed New Year’s resolutions fueled by a burst of positive energy! It’s also a punishing mentality because if horrible things are happening to us then it’s because we aren’t being positive enough and it’s our own fault.
