What can you do once you reach an impasse and the lid has blown off? Good communication can solve many problems and is a skill that we must develop. In a healthy marriage we listen and we are listened to. Each party speaks freely and feels safe sharing private thoughts. They speak to each other thoughtfully so as not to carelessly hurt or control or manipulate the other. If we are not exchanging our thoughts and hearts with loving communication a chasm will grow leading to resentment and anger and the marriage will break down.
