Thanks so much for being here!
People often ask me how I came up with a combination of music and spa products so I’ll take this space to give you a bit of history.

I am a New Zealand born, conservatory trained pianist and vocalist, music composer, teacher, and performer, and along with my driving passion for music, I just like to make things.

While I was raising my 5 children we had a 6000 sq. ft. garden and grew everything possible including corn, carrots, sunflowers, strawberries, melons, apples, peaches and pears and so much more – only the freshest, highest quality ingredients for my family.

We made everything from scratch, preserving excess by dehydration, canning and freezing. We ate 100% whole wheat bread… grinding wheat kernels into flour…kneading the dough and putting it out to rise in the warm California sun. The kids would take turns punching down the fluffy dough with their little fists for the 2nd rise. They loved it and is there anything more delicious than the aroma of fresh baked bread, wafting through the house?

I homeschooled the kids and created much of their curriculum based on interest and current events. For instance, if there was going to be a lunar eclipse each child would study the coming event according to their grade level. The older ones would write descriptive essays, the little ones would draw pictures of the moon and have moon associated spelling lists. There would be yummy ‘moon cake’ for dessert which we would bake, frost (and lick the bowl), and then of course we would watch the lunar eclipse wrapped up in blankets and eating popcorn. I should add that this approach to education works nicely – they all have college degrees and are musicians.

I sewed all the family clothes – back then a pattern was .99 cents and a remnant of 1-2 yards could be picked up for a couple of dollars. At that time we lived below the poverty level but the kids always had beautiful brand new clothes. I made custom window coverings for our little home with matching lamp shades, pillows and quilts.

Then, my favorite massage oil was discontinued because it was made with Sandalwood Essential Oil and the Sandalwood trees had become endangered. At that point I started making my own massage oils and signature fragrances and giving them as gifts to family and friends.

I love to travel now and find inspiration all over the world. There is so much variety and diversity, so many sounds and aromas to experience. Our senses of sound and smell are not essential to survival but enhance our lives.

Beethoven said, “Music is the mediator between the spiritual and sensual life.” This is what I believe regarding living inspiration, that it lifts us beyond the everyday mundane to a higher place.
And that’s the idea behind Get Carried Away – an inspirational moment for reprieve which allows the body and mind to heal itself.

Let me know your thoughts – I’d love to hear from you.
