Dear Friend,
There is nothing greater than love! From being smitten and carried away by passion, to the deep satisfaction of an enduring relationship, there is no riskier venture, and no investment offering a higher return.

This blong offers my thoughts on love. So, I want you to settle in – listen, read, and let your mind consider the most wonderful of life’s quests…true love.

Joanne

Love is a Treasure – the music

Love is a Treasure – the lyric

I’d be just fine
On my own
I would survive
But it’s not good
To be alone
Two is better than one

And a fortune precious and rare

Love is a treasure
Worth having and holding
Close to your heart
With value beyond measure
A blessed endowment
I’m holding on to you

Frame-Master-couple-sunset

There is a path
You must take
To know love’s embrace
It’s fraught with risk
And sagas untold
Cast out your fear, be bold
Let nothing stand in your way
Tear the walls down, find a way around

Love is a treasure
Worth having and holding
Close to your heart
With value beyond measure
A blessed endowment
I’m holding on to you

Love shines its light on our darkness
Warming the night, melting our hardness
Love draws us out of our shadows
Leading us into the fullness of life

To Love is to be Vulnerablejoanne-jolee-love-is-a-tresure-ambiente-thomasz-rut-580x399“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”

C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

A Love Poem

The fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the ocean
The winds of heaven mix forever
With a sweet emotion
Nothing in the world is single
All things by a law divine
In one another’s being mingle –
Why not I with thine

See! The mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another
No sister flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother
And the sunlight clasps the earth
And the moonbeams kiss the sea
What are all these kissings worth
If thou kiss not me?

Love’s Philosophy by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)

Kissings is my arrangement of Shelly’s poem built upon the chord structure of 16th century La Folia – ‘an unrivaled phenomenon in the history of music’.

About Love

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
